Contenders or overrated?

The Miami heat started the year 5-1, since then have went 6-13.

Ben Simmons got injured over 5 games ago, but the writtimg was on the wall, that the team was relying on the MVP caliber player to take them to the promise land. But in return, they have relied too much on him and no one else has stepped up to be another scoring option every single night.

Kyle Kuzma is inconsistent, and up and down. Dennis Smith Jr. Is another guy who was projected to be another Terry Rozier. So far he is underperforming.

The rest of the roster is filled with centers who can rebound and barely score

What are they missing? They are missing PJ Dozier who can score, rebound, pass, block, steal at will.
They are also missing Semi Ojeleye who can do the exact same thing as PJ.

Imagine both on this team right now and how good they could be.

Things aren't looking too great right now, but Joshua Smith will be returning in a little over 21 days, and same with Ben Simmons. With them both back, hopefully the Heat can find that niche, to start winning again.

I personally feel they need another #2 option who is liable and will consistently deliver any given night. Even if they have to give up a draft pick or two, to win it all. You sometimes have to take risks. Without taking risks, this is where they are.

It is early in the season and maybe I am wrong, but something seems completely wrong with the Heat this season, even healthy.

Second-best 11-win team in the league this year

It can’t feel good looking at Semi and PJ tearing through the league but boy that would be a deadly team if they kept those guys. Who would have though PJ would turn into the star he is right now though.

Shooters getting nerfed and inside/slashers getting buffed was impossible to predict. However the team was built around Simmons so if he gets injured we will struggle a bit. Yeah with PJ or Semi we'd be better when Simmons isnt playing but would we be better when Simmons is playing? Fit IMO is more important than just loading your team with a bunch of high usage players who get in the paint, but true non centers who operate in mid-range/post/drfl are insane right now.

Yeah that's what happened to the Pels. Brought in talented guys who aren't good fits. Needed slashers and distributers not scorers. Imagine a pg who made Lauri more efficient. Same for Big Ben.

The Pels offense isn't the issue. KD can fit with any system. They were starting three defensive liabilities, a mediocre defensive center, and Paul George, and have more poor/mediocre defenders coming off the bench. Benching Cousins for WCS a couple games ago was a good defensive move.

But you are right, I'd want a better PG than Stockton.
