Sixers Season Review and Early Preview - Passing of the torch

Sixers Season Review and Early Preview - Passing of the Torch

2033 Season showed the transitioning period of Anfernee Simons from being a role player next to the main man Donovan Mitchell. Upon arriving in the City of Brotherly Love, Simons has been under the wings of Mitchell guiding him and allowing him to mature and adjust to Sixers basketball. Coming in as a relatively new role in New Orleans, where he played as a starting SF, Simons returns from his comfort zone as a playmaker although coming off the bench that time. Slowly getting into the mix and later on inserted in the starting lineup as the Post Season approaches. He had averages of over 19 points a game, playing mostly as a 6th man. Apart from his scoring where he was known for, Simons showed flashes of maturity, having career averages of 8 assists and 1.7 steals.

Fast forward to the 2034 CSL season, the reign has been passed following the trade that sent main man Donovan Mitchell to their Eastern Rival, Miami Heat that seals the deal of Simons taking over as the lead guy for the Franchise. Now, he has the responsibility to carry this team to a much deeper and higher goal, the CSL Championship.

Giving him support were the remnants in Viny Okouo, who will become the primary inside presence of the team this season with the departure of big man Laurynas Birutis, who will now don the Utah Jazz jersey. Viny, just like Simons, did not start the season with the team but ended up playing a key role in their hunt for deeper Playoff run.

Aside from Viny, Mouhamadou Gueye will have a chance to play full season as well, following his Most Improved worthy play last season. Suiting up with him are holdovers Sylvain Francisco, Max Christie, Georgios Tsalmpouris, and Jordan Caroline. Longest tenured players in Chase Jeter, Terry Taylor, and Oscar da Silva are still there and expected to have bigger roles this time around. Rounding up the roster are newcomers Cameron Johnson, Dennis Smith, Shaquille Harrison, and rookie Jahzare Jackson.

The primary goal is still reaching the Playoffs with their pick not in their hands, though top 5 protected. And the ultimate goal as always is hoisting the CSL title at the end of Playoffs. Can they do it this time? Who knows...

It is amazing how you can always trade out a franchise corner stone and the team proceeds as nothing happened :-)
Best thing that can happen to "Mr. Trade".
The team seems off to another hot start into the season. What they missed the past few seasons, is more dominance during the playoffs. But getting there with a good regular season record, lays the foundation.

I love how you keep flipping your roster and keep racking up wins. Honestly probably the best GM in the league at targeting and acquiring guys who fit the Rhox System.

I’ll always wish Simons well. That Thunder and Lightning backcourt of him and Maxey was a lot of fun to watch and write about.
