Magic Get Greek!

As first reported by the Orlando Sentinel that the Magic may have moved Jonas Valanciunas, it became a reality today as he was shipped to Milwaukee for versatile GF Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Well I can assure you this move came out of nowhere as I was under the impression things were smoothed out after our meeting which you guys somehow found out about by the way but uh... it's interesting how things can appear one way in this business and end up another and let's just call it what it is, this is a business and on the business side of things the GM evidently has a plan that I'm not aware of but in the end we got a high quality piece in Giannis uh I'll just call him "Alphabet" cause the term Greek Freak doesn't sit too well with me but "Alphabet" is a good multi-dimensional player and we look forward to seeing how he performs... Well we'll miss Jonas and we're gonna have to lean on Greg a little more than we'd like but things should be fine...

First I'd like to say that as the GM of the Orlando Magic my job is to put together the best assets and players possible for our franchise while also projecting a financial landscape that'll be beneficial to our success in our goal of winning a championship and I really do not have to elaborate any further or um "report" if you will my decisions for approval to anyone... Now that that's out of the way, we would like to welcome Giannis Antetokounmpo to our city and to our franchise and look forward to seeing him develop and grow with the rest of our young talent we've acquired. I'd be lying if I said we won't miss Jonas Valanciunas but we also feel like we are in a much better financial position heading into the next couple of years with our young guys needing extensions which is very critical to sustain success in this League and our financial projections and talent pool will be very high in that aspect as we look to make upgrades and build a championship team...

Orlando appears to have gained a glutten of perimeter based talent and may look to consolidate that talent into a premier player but we're told that may be something that they'll look to do in the offseason.

I know not many are too big on this deal for you. I, too, would have stuck with Valanciunas over Giannis but I know the type of GM you are and you'll be continuing to revamp the roster to your liking in the future. Maybe your scout sees much more potential in him than mine does as well.

Valanciunas is a very good C, top of the list of tier 2 C's in my book. That said he's sure for an extension next offseason along with Barnes and Ross whereas Giannis is option eligible giving us more time to develop him etc.

We have FA, trade avenues, and more importantly the draft to address C, meanwhile Oden at 70 orb 60 drb 70 def is pretty good C ratings and a good contract to stick around and do the job for the next few yrs.

Overall Tobias Harris and Nik Vucevic (both who need to be extended) were moved for Terrence Ross and Giannis so not bad imo.

Well, that confirms something I thought, that you'd fall in love with Oden and maybe even trust him your starting spot if needed.
While I don't think Oden is bad, he's not anywhere close to what J Val is and what he could become when maxed.

I understand this deal for you. I understand why you did it, but I'd not do it myself. But well, it's not something absolutely out of this world. I see good potentials for Giannis so he can continue developing. He's still very very young.

I think Giannis has a great future in the CSL and I think you got one of the most versatile players in all of the CSL. He's going to be a good piece for you for a long time. It was tough as hell dealing him, I'll tell you that.

I really wanted to get something done with you around Jonas in the worst way, we just couldn't come to a solutiion but was very interested in sending him to Sacramento but you having Nurkic made Valanciunas' value to you lower which is certainly understandable.

As for the trade I'm very high on Alphabet and he'll be a cornerstone for us for quite some time.

Not to mention the player I get that would equate to what Jonas will make once extended or signed which is the totality of the deal and also I'm not quite seeing Jeff Green.
