CSL ScoutWire

๐Ÿ“ข NEW: Introducing the CSL ScoutWire

We are officially launching the CSL ScoutWire, an analytical dashboard designed to help you navigate the upcoming draft!

๐Ÿ”— How to Access
1. Visit CSL ScoutWire: https://championsimleague.com/html/Webs ... twire.html

If the app says its sleeping, you can re-activate it from here: https://csl-scoutwire-3g4qqsxeshe2gtmuh ... amlit.app/

2 Upload Your Data: Click the "Upload Scouting CSVs" button on the left pane. (Download your CSV from CSLO. You can include all of your historical data from other draft classes too in order to take a look at past players). Since there was an error with Scout Period 1 for 2035 and we cannot remove the data, there is an automatic filter in CSL ScoutWire that eliminates any row of data where DRFL >25.

Note: The data you upload stays in your browser session and is never shared with other GMs or the league office. You will have to upload your CSV each time you enter.

๐Ÿ“Š Key Concepts & Metrics
To get the most out of the tool, keep these definitions in mind:

Current & Ceiling (Overall Pot): This is the "Pure Talent" score. It is the average of the 9 core ratings (SCR, PAS, HDL, ORB, DRB, DEF, STL, BLK, IQ) and is weighted equally regardless of position.

Upside (+): The mathematical gap between a player's current core rating(s) and their potential core rating(s). A high Upside score identifies a "High-Value Project" or someone who has room to grow.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ What can you do in ScoutWire?

๐Ÿ‘ค Individual Prospect Scout: Deep dive into core ratings, shooting ratings, shot locations, and action tendencies. All ratings are averaged from your CSV file which already takes into account the +/- deviations. Additionally, use the player comparison tool at the bottom to compare a player with any other player you've scouted (this draft or past drafts). There are also 'Similar Prospect Profiles', which display the top 3 similar players based on ratings from your scouts.

๐ŸŽฏ Advanced Player Finder: Find prospects using rating sliders. You can toggle between current ratings and potential ratings.

๐Ÿ“‹ The War Room: View averages for every player in the class that you've scouted on one screen. You can use the "My Rank" column to sort the draft your way. Once youโ€™ve built your board, click the Export button to download a CSV of your personal rankings to keep for draft night. (unfortunately I couldn't find a way to make it save the data online)

๐Ÿ“ˆ Strategy & Analysis: See who the "Safe Veterans" are vs. the "Superstars" based on the class averages. You can view this for past years scouts too to see how best to interpret the quadrants.

-----------------------------------

I am happy to continue adding on to this tool if people have ideas! Feel free to play around with it for now and then we can adjust things as time goes on. Enjoy!

Looks awesome, can't wait to play around with it. I really like how you export the file from CSLO and it pre-filters it to latest year in the tool. Amazing

Just had a chance to sit down with this and I really love the overall concept it but I have one question. Is there anywhere to see the actual ranges as I want to see if I need to/want to scout a player further for a certain range?

I've gone back to the 2031 draft class to check out Kofi (really cool checking the older draft classes in this tool haha) and using his scoring as an example, the tool says 60.something for his potential (pre-boost potentials obviously). His actual range is 57-61 when I calculate it manually but I can't find these ranges anywhere. Is there an area where I can see these?

Otherwise it's hard to tell if I want to narrow down anywhere. If it was 50-65 I'd probably assign some more scouts to try narrow it down some more and whilst I love the average as an overall look at a player (I did this myself in a separate spreadsheet), I would still really like to see the ranges as it's the most important part of scouting I feel.

Maybe it's somewhere and I just can't find it? Love the tool and appreciate the work that went into it to make it. Some really cool features too like comparisons and ranks, etc.

and maybe just for fun, an overall rank overall in addition to per position. Could be fun as using the older class, David Okeke's potential had him ranked as the 2nd overall SF but I was wondering how that rank would look like overall with all positions.

Just to clarify, you are looking for the minimum and maximum of each rating (current and potential) based on all scouting reports received?

Yeah, like how we did it manually or like it was in Lucas' draft thing.

So potential ratings of 60, 63, 58 and 70 with the +/- 15 range would show a 55-73 range.

Appreciate the feedback Ryan.

I made a few tweaks.

1. I've included the # of total scouting reports under the Executive Summary.

2. Below the figures for core and shooting ratings, there's expandable data tables that show in text the low, avg, and highs for both current and potential ratings based off the CSV.

Love the total scouting report number and noticed the overall rating too. Love that just for a glance.

Nearly with the ranges. You're showing the high and low which is great but can we maybe add the +/- to each area? How you've done it, it's identifying the high and low rating which is great so it'd just be a case of adding a simple +/- 15 (for potential) or +/- 10 for current and show that number... if that makes sense?

I'll use Kofi again as the example. You have his potential scoring showing low as 48 and high as 72 which is spot on from his 7 scouts but low should show 57 (72 or high number -15) and high should show 63 (48 or low number -15). Then I can see the range of 57-63 for his scoring potential and I'd probably not scout him further as that range is fairly low but seeing 48 to 72 means I need to manually calculate to find that range.

Could even have a further column here showing the range number (6). That would make it easy to look at the range column and see where the big gaps are as in a 20 gap and you might want to scout more to try get that rating lower if it's an important rating to you.

Love the stuff you've done and are adding though :D

Finally had a chance to dive into this and can conclude what a really, really awesome tool this is. Fantastic job, Ryan! No notes at the moment!

Also, after reading through the comments, I probably would've requested the same thing bt did regarding the ranges lol.

Using this to put in the scouts and not sure if this is a bug but it's giving me an incorrect figure for number of scouting reports.

Some guys I've scouted 8 or 9 times and I've confirmed this in CSLO and the actual spreadsheet that is downloaded but it's only saying that player has 5 total scouts. Does that mean it's only taking 5 scouts into account and not taking into account all the scouts or it is but showing the incorrect number?

That should not be the case. When you look in CSLO, are you including scouts from the first round we did this year where all the numbers were off and we had to do re-scouts?
