Agent Q

Post by blackice »

After a solid start to the season the Raptors find themselves 7-6. The game was always going to come naturally to a guy like Cory Joseph but he’s really put the offense on his back averaging 25/4/6. That said he hasn’t been the most efficient player in the world but he clearly knows how to lead a team and now that his USG% is up he’s putting up a career high in numerous areas including scoring.

The team is fine upfront with the likes of MKG/Okafor and with longtime Raptor Jordan Bell is going out with two-way monster “Zhou Qi” coming in. The 7-2 behemoth is averaging 17/10 w/ 3.1 blks and will likely start for us depending on the matchup. That trade consists of Mike Conley/Jordan Bell for Zhou Qi.

The more publicized deal has Noel/Robinson/Macura for Bledsoe/McRae should do a few things for this team. Bledsoe gives us an elite ball handler and perimeter defender with 1st option level offense and 3PA on volume. He is also a hound and will fit in with our high pressure defense.

McRae is a very good 3&D wing who can play both swing spots and provides another lockdown defender to take out opposing wing guys and hit a few 3’s a game.

Post Day 30 the roster will look like:

Cory Joseph/Nigel Williams-Goss
Eric Bledsoe/Allen Crabbe/Antonius Cleveland

DeMarre Carroll/Jordan McRae

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Zhou Qi/Jahlil Okafor

Hopefully the increase in post scoring and perimeter scoring will push us up to that elite tier. Our defense wasn’t compromised and has in fact been upgraded. Crabbe/McRae/Okafor (or Qi) is a good bench with an emphasis on defense.
Ball is Life.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Jordan Bell and think he may be more valuable than Qi on his own.

Sad to trade the mini Anthony Davis. It's been real Qi

The Toronto Thunder is looking decent

Solid value back for Q for me this deal makes sense for both sides. Shows the value of hyping and stat padding a guy.

Qi puts on more on the box score, but I prefer Bell. The east getting even tougher.

I like Bell more than Qi, but Qi's stats this year are looking better.
Bell seems to struggle more than expected.

Makes sense for both teams. BI is going all in, OKC can see if they can make Bell work.

I think everyone knew Qi's stats were being padded this year. Andrew clearly doesn't care about winning this year. In hindsight, I shouldn't have traded OKC's first away during the off-season, but not in my wildest dreams did I think he'd blow his team up before re-acquiring his pick. That's like rebuilding 101. I can only imagine what Willy said in trade negotiations lol.

But back on topic, this trade seems fine to me. I don't think I'm nearly as high on Bell as some others. He's not my kind of big.

Some guys just underplay their ratings and never live up to how we think they should play. I think Bell is one of those guys. Qi’s contract is problematic but I think he’s a better on-court talent than Bell right now
