Messing Around With The HTML: East vs West

Post by KW »

Just threw together a really rough Excel spreadsheet from the HTML sim schedule in about an hour this evening. I'll make this more sophisticated over time, for sure. But the main reason I did this was to see the league's record between conferences.

As of March 29th 2023, there have been 1072 games played so far this season, with 426 games featuring one Eastern team and one Western team. The record of those games is 219-207 favoring the WEST.

120 of those matchups featured two CURRENT playoff teams from opposite conferences have faced off. It is exceptionally close, but the West wins 62-58.

Narrowing it down further to the 30 games played between two top 4 seeds in opposite conferences, the West has opened a gap, with an 18-12 West advantage.

Do what you want this information. and open to requests :D

Excellent stuff here. I'd say it confirms what most of us think. The West is top heavy but the gap is shrinking and the East deeper. Thank you for doing this it's pretty cool.

Interesting stuff, as it seems like the level of playing field is pretty even.

With the general consensus that the west is top heavy with the east being deeper, I guess they trade punches to a point where it ends up relatively even.

These are the results from this season...

All teams used for the first group, each conference's top 8 for the second group (down to Dallas and Atlanta I think?), each conference's top 4 for the last group (down to Houston and Toronto)

Feels good to be 6-3 against the top of the West (SAC, OKC, PHX, HOU, POR) so far.
