Assistant GMs
So we have about a 3 man waiting list right now for new joiners and until we look through activity and until we open up some teams who have been inactive, I wanted to see if any current GMs wanted an assistant GM to help the new joiners get used to the league.
Post here if you're interested and we can try to pair them up.

Re: Assistant GMs
I don't mind having an assistant, however I don't own the game, so I might not be such great help lmao.

And they've completely devastated teams thanks to predatory GMs (and blunders due to inexperience). See Chicago in the short time Marcos was away. There are many others, but that's probably the freshest.Ocons wrote:Forget assistants. Fill these open spots. Shit, when has experience stopped us before. Re: Assistant GMs
I'd say be a lil bit more restrictive when it comes to allowing big-time trades, then. If any new guy gets mad because of it, it wasn't meant for him to join the league, he wasn't going to be active anyway. Whoever wants to stick around will understand league is trying to protect the team (and therefore the new GM).GreenBear wrote:And they've completely devastated teams thanks to predatory GMs (and blunders due to inexperience). Re: Assistant GMs
Yeah, the new rule is all trades involving stars or core players are subject to trade during a new GMs first season. That's meant to ensure that experienced GMs offer fair value for players instead of trash as the trade committee has the power to deny poor trades to protect the new GMs and the league.

I have experience and 2 titles in different Leagues but is also being considered a "shit" GM for trading Cuz and my 1st to TOR for Drummond and Tyler Ennis. Some may consider the Magic being "devastated" by trading Paul George and DeMarcus Cousins for Andrew Wiggins Joel Embiid Andre Drummond?emplep7 wrote:Yeah, the new rule is all trades involving stars or core players are subject to trade during a new GMs first season. Re: Assistant GMs
It's not always "big-time" trades that sink a team though. There have been instances of that in the past, sure, but that's not always the case. Blunders like letting TJ McConnell walk for nothing in FA (even though he's only making $7M). And sometimes it's a bunch of the small-to-medium sized trades that add up.Marcos_Beck wrote:I'd say be a lil bit more restrictive when it comes to allowing big-time trades, then. Re: Assistant GMs
I don’t see how that’s relevant here. Regardless of anyone’s opinion, you have a track record here and the admins can trust that you won’t just leave the team for dead when things don’t go your way or you decide this just isn’t for you. New GMs come in all the time, make a couple of poor trades, and then leave, either due to disinterest or being more or less harassed for making those terrible trades. Then that leaves the team in an even worse position than before. See DVDA with Chicago, tokyojordan with Milwaukee. We know that for better or for worse you will be here and will be an active general manager, and that is literally the #1 most important thing for any CSL member.WillyJakkz wrote:I have experience and 2 titles in different Leagues but is also being considered a "shit" GM for trading Cuz and my 1st to TOR for Drummond and Tyler Ennis. Perhaps what a trade committee deems a “poor trade” or a “devastated team” is different than what some individual members of this league would consider, but the fact is new GMs have to be protected a little more because it’s far more likely that someone could join the league, make some questionable decisions, and then just leave. For our long term active GMs, there isn’t that same concern. Sometimes devastated teams are still left behind, that’s going to happen (Lakers for example), but at the very least the CSL can do it’s due diligence to make sure it doesn’t happen frequently with new GMs.

Re: Assistant GMs
My suggestion: Just create a Check-In thread. Give GMs what, 48hrs to reply "here". Send a mass PM to all GMs stating they are required to check in on the thread within 48 hours or risk losing your team. If GMs haven't posted in the Away Thread, there should be no issues or excuses as to why you aren't checking the forum in freakin 48 hours. Majority of us have a cell phone, you open your web browser and boom, you can read and interact with the league you joined.
