RAPTOR++ / 2019-2020 CSL Season Ep.1

Post by Chilikonkarne »

For those who don’t know RAPTOR++, it is a tool that combine the ratings of each player (70%) and his efficiency in game (30%). Their capacities are weighted in order to value good rebounding for bigs for example.
The % in game is also considered in the ratings which probably change the balance from 70/30 to 60/40.

The tool premiere objective is to evaluate players value when it comes to trade or free agency. It has it flaws with defensive aspects not taken into consideration (%STP, PA/SF).
However, I believe it bring a good overview in general and was well received the last years by the league.
I decided not to include team record since I like to compare the players over the years.

2019 - Dante Exum - Utah_Jazz : 24.1pts, 45%, 4.3ast, 4.2rbd, 2stl, 1.3blk in 36.5min / EVAL: 86

Get off of me Kemba and Bledsoe! And if it wasn't for having the #1 sg and #2 sf, Wall would be ahead of Irving.

Good job, Chili.

We have three guys there (Melo, Thon and Bo). If team record was taken into account they would be out I guess. ;)

Its okay he can have a higher ranking in this system. Maybe little boy Wall might also someday be good enough to make it to the big dance like the star PGs in Kemba and Bledsoe...

Curry over George?

There isn't a single aspect of Curry's current campaign that is more impressive than Paul George. On both sides of the floor.

Love these rankings, even more now that I have two guys on the list haha. I expected Waiters to be in the top-10 at his position but seeing Stauskas there as well was a great treat. I had outside hope that Myles Turner would make the list for centers. How does RAPTOR++ rate him?

Efficiency (+5pts on FG, +6pts on 3PTS, +1pt on FT) and Curry is playing 6 minutes less to get these statistics.
