RAPTOR++ / Starting 5 by team
Today I feel generous.
With the latest trade frenzy and the playoffs race going on (especially in the East), I wanted to make an overview of the league with team standings and their starting 5 evaluated by the Raptor++ (see description below in italic)
Could be a good overview for the 2nd part of the season!
For those who don’t know RAPTOR++, it is a tool that combine the ratings of each player (70%) and his efficiency in game (30%). Their capacities are weighted in order to value good rebounding for bigs for example.
The % in game is also considered in the ratings which probably change the balance from 70/30 to 60/40.
The tool premiere objective is to evaluate players value when it comes to trade or free agency. It has it flaws with defensive aspects not taken into consideration (%STP, PA/SF)
However, I believe it bring a good overview in general and was well received last year by the league.
I decided not to include team record since I like to compare the players over the years.

Re: RAPTOR++ / Starting 5 by team
I'm very interested to see how Terrence Ross and Terrence Jones fit into our rotation. Not sure we have a chance to make a playoff run this season but with them on the roster for the next couple seasons and DePaula and Qi continuing to develop, here's to hoping we can come out of the gates hot next season and make some noise.

Re: RAPTOR++ / Starting 5 by team
I could have included Jones as PF (70) and Stokes (68) as Center. DePaula is already solid (71) and Qi still quite far from efficiency (61) but shoyuld be your starer next year with a good TCRizzo wrote:I'm very interested to see how Terrence Ross and Terrence Jones fit into our rotation. Re: RAPTOR++ / Starting 5 by team
Come get Spencer Hawes! His 78 rating is better then half the league! Great asset for you contenders! Send your offers!
Good article, i would have waited a day or two to allow teams that made trades to get their real lineups in there.

Well updated, I didn't realize he played only 6 games...but for his defense he was really efficient for his limited playing time.OneNole wrote:Come get Spencer Hawes! His 78 rating is better then half the league! Great asset for you contenders! Send your offers!

If you keep him in the starting 5 - I think he should be valued around the 70s

Interesting to see how each team is setup, but I gotta get my man Ricky Rubes up in that rating.

Actually Beverly is our starting PG, but looks good to me. Even though I would prefer players with low rankings often.

Re: RAPTOR++ / Starting 5 by team
Good read and interesting ranking
Would it be correct to say that it heavily favors offense vs defense as we see stoppers such as White and Adams with quite low rank

Yes STP%, PA/SF and TOFC are too painful to collect so not part of the calculation.andrei wrote:Good read and interesting ranking

Only ratings like (STL, BLK, DEF) and stats like Steal and Block are part of the rating

Good job. I agree with Andrei, though. It may be clearer in the playoffs (player's actual defensive value) when teams actually care about matchups.

Very very interesting indeed. Would it be possible to put Babbitt or Powell as our starting SF, Joe Johnson actually is my backup PG/ SG. Appreciate it.Chilikonkarne wrote:Asik fixed (from 80 to 70, typo)

George Cousins, LeBron Monroe, Harden Faried, and Cotton Davis seem to be the tops in duo ratings.
Great article man and was looking forward to the monthly edition of this since our trade as Cuz has really improved in this.

Fantastic stuff. I'm curious to see how it looked with McConnell at PG and Giannis at PF (our old lineup). Eyeballing it, I feel like our new lineup improved it overall.

Really cool idea! We seem balanced, probably playing Amir at C for now. Wright would be off the bench. I like the rating system a lot.

I added Powell. Babbitt is 51WillyJakkz wrote:Very very interesting indeed. Would it be possible to put Babbitt or Powell as our starting SF, Joe Johnson actually is my backup PG/ SG. Appreciate it.Chilikonkarne wrote:Asik fixed (from 80 to 70, typo)
If you see something weird or would like to see another starting 5 for your team let me know and I will update
George Cousins, LeBron Monroe, Harden Faried, and Cotton Davis seem to be the tops in duo ratings.
Great article man and was looking forward to the monthly edition of this since our trade as Cuz has really improved in this.

Giannis is a really solid 78.Jestor wrote:Fantastic stuff. I'm curious to see how it looked with McConnell at PG and Giannis at PF (our old lineup). Eyeballing it, I feel like our new lineup improved it overall.
McConnell is only 65 due to his average production by minute (48 efficiency). moreover, his good defensive stats are not taking into account
