Round 1- Pick 10 - Utah Jazz
With the 10th pick the Jazz had many ideas and many trades but also a lack of scouting didnt help as the Gm was overseas for much of the season
Utah was down to 4 players but decided to go with .....
Yago dos Santos
Strengths:
+ Outstanding passer and ball handler
+ Comes in ready to contribute
+ Very good jump shooter from all mid/3-point ranges
+ Brilliant basketball mind and teammate who should elevate those around him
+ Has some utility on defense due to his stealing ability
Weaknesses:
- Really struggles within 10 feet of each basket due to his size
- Probably won't ever be a true positive on D
- A bit lacking creating his own shots
- Limited upside
Best Case Scenario: Bryce Cotton
Worst Case Scenario: Collin Sexton sans defense
Current Ratings: 5/10
Potential Ratings: 7/10
Potential Defense: 4/10
Potential Offense: 7/10
Intangibles: 10/10

Interesting, a guy I thought would fall further after I scouted him, but he has a intriguing upside

Can't go wrong with the best PG passer, potentially best PG scorer(in the right system) in this year's draft. He will fill in nicely since you traded Mitchell.

I like this one, super skilled playmaker with very high IQ with a very nice outside shot. It's fair to question his interior game (on both ends) as he's tiny. I think what makes or breaks this pick is how much he gets to shoot but that comes down to offensive scheming for a PG.

I really wanted my scouts to rate him a little higher so I could have a Brazilian PG, but still I think he could be an excellent solid starter with a long csl career

Didn't scout him, but consensus seems to be that he's going to be a quality starting point guard in the CSL for a long time, but not necessarily a world-beater.

It will be interesting to see if a playmaker like him can finally find a starting spot in this league, as those Tyler Ulis types usually becomes a backup, but Santos sounds like he can shoot the ball and maybe score enough to do more than just pass.

Who was that guy on the Pelicans when they won it all? Their pg. I forget his name but Santos is similar to him imohardenwithnod wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:36 pm It will be interesting to see if a playmaker like him can finally find a starting spot in this league, as those Tyler Ulis types usually becomes a backup, but Santos sounds like he can shoot the ball and maybe score enough to do more than just pass.

Bryce Cotton, he was a better defender, but wasn't quite the playmakerAndrewu91 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:49 pmWho was that guy on the Pelicans when they won it all? Their pg. Yeah that's him. He was a very valuable player. I'm thinking Santos will have a career very similar to Cotton.KW wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:51 pmBryce Cotton, he was a better defender, but wasn't quite the playmakerAndrewu91 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:49 pmWho was that guy on the Pelicans when they won it all? Seems like a great pick Phil, solid guard to build around.

Feel like we've had a few of these players but not sure how long their careers went. Good PG skills but low defense although this guy has an outside shot apparently which will help.

Nice pick but i doubt he can contribute right away if you're looking to win now. Nonetheless he'll probably fit in like a glove.

Re: Round 1- Pick 10 - Utah Jazz
There's definitely a drop-off in PGs after Yago. Excellent 3-point shooter that should have decent usage. Excellent PAS/HDL combo, and will force TOs. His one big weakness is man-defense. But you can live with that.

Re: Round 1- Pick 10 - Utah Jazz
I didn’t think Ziaire Williams was going to be available so I had originally pegged Yago as my primary target for #9, though Ziaire was 3 spots higher on my personal board.
Maybe my scouts were on the stronger side but he looks like he’s going to be a really excellent player. The man defense weakness will be tough but he looked like a real franchise point guard offensively

Re: Round 1- Pick 10 - Utah Jazz
Yago is probably similar to Ulis with his elite passing, handling, IQ and Discipline. While not a great defensive player, his pressuring skills are actually quite good. He is allergic to inside play and should never enter the paint but his perimeter game is efficient enough, with Corner being a particular strength. It will be super interesting to see how much he will actually shoot.
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!
