Ban 2 year contracts with TO in second year

This needs to happen. It's an abuse of the FA system - hence why it got banned in NLL, and I believe GAH bans it as well, though I'll have to double check on that. We've already seen it this year with a few players, the biggest name obviously Rudy Gay.

I agree - been abusing this rule myself throughout my GM career so totally understand this from player perspective...

Shumpert got paid. Gay, even more. I don't see any reason to ban it myself, but I don't use it anyway, I prefer offering player options to make it more attractive from a player's standpoint.

Well.. It isn't allowed and its a rule. No idea why I posted all the rules if no one reads them anyway:P..

Written down in the free agency headquarter rules.

TEAM-OPTION (TO) Clause
A team option clause allows a GM to choose if a contract is to be extended for one additional season after the date it is scheduled to end. For example, a four-year contract with an option for the fifth year means that if the option is exercised, then the contract extends through the fifth season, but if the option is not exercised, then the contract ends after the fourth season.

Contract options can only occur at the final year of a contract. If a contract is for 4 years, then there may be a 5th year option. The option year also has to be of an equal or greater value of the season prior.

For player to be team option eligible, contract must be at minimum of three years long.

yep, we asked the agencies to fix that asap - seems that they tried to push a few deals through under the radar a la Joe Smith

My fault. Just read my messages and actually the agencies asked if its allowed. As I didn't had the time to answer they assumed it is allowed. They will fix it as soon as possible.

Good to hear. Definitely hate that 2-year contract with a TO. Hopefully all teams can come to an agreement with their free agents to keep their guys.
