Re: Rooks first impression
Wiggins looks incredible.
Willie Cauley-Stein (misspelled btw) will be a really good defender, but he's among the worst offensive players.
SAC had an amazing draft. Elfrid Payton has the potential to be the among the elite 3/D specialists in the league, and Harrell looks mostly complete already but he's pretty solid, and will be a force.

Re: Rooks first impression
I would say that this class looks generally weaker all across the board than the previous class with nobody really blowing me away. Smart looks pretty good, but he won't be a top player in the league and Wiggins looks like a good two way player, but the same goes for him. Gary Harris looks like a decent player, but not someone I would want for a 3rd overall pick.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson looks to be a defensive stud for Cleveland, Stauskas looks solid, Cauley-Stein is a horrible offensive player, but should be a good defensive center, Branden Dawson looks like a very interesting player, Bruno looks like another good player that will be a good 2nd option for a team down the line,
Terran Petteway from the Sixers looks like the biggest steal of the draft to be honest. Similar ratings to Bruno. Delon Wright looks like a good PG for the Suns, and there are some other decent players mixed in there.
As for us, Shannon Scott looks like a good backup PG who can spot start at times and Robert Upshaw looks to be a decent backup big man.
Jestor has to be pretty happy about missing out on this draft after seeing the file.

Yeah I was fine with dropping out when we missed the Top 2. Not sure who I would have drafted - probably Wood, who looks pretty good on the potentials I'm seeing - nice value for 10 considering what else was around him.

Re: Rooks first impression
Wiggins looks like he's going to be a phenom. Smart and Harris don't impress me at all to be honest. Julius Randle could turn into the best rebounder in the league with those potentials. I like Wood's potentials too. Petteway was a guy I was considering but I think I got some bad scouting reports on PJ Hairston. That could come back to haunt me. I probably should have considered Delon Wright at #16 over both but I never scouted him and didn't want to make a blind pick although he was ranked in the top-10 all year long. Juwan Staten looks pretty good for me as a spark plug off of the bench. I'm just glad Rondae Hollis-Jefferson won't be staying in Cleveland lol.

Wiggins does look pretty good but my scouts say Smart does also. Wright at 16 looks a good pick too. Suns did well this draft.
Don't mind what I see with Wood either. If that offensive rebounding develops, him and Nurkic are going to be terrors on the offensive boards. Hazell looks good but I know he's not mine.

Traded Jeff Withey.
Acquired Harrell at #8, he looks great of off boards and def, I'm sure his potentials should be nice. At #23 I got Rondae Hollis-Jefferson who looks great of D. And can be servicable in limited minutes. A big surprise has been #29 Tyrone Wallace, who looks like a solid 6th man candidate. His passing , rebounding and defense are ready for CSL.

Re: Rooks first impression
I made a quick analysis based on the ratings.
It is a calculation I use to evaluate players : It usually combines ratings, % and game statistics and is weighted based on the player position (rebounds counts more for PF and C, etc.…)
But in this case, be aware it is only taking into consideration the ratings on HTML and no other important other indicators for rookies like potential, %, shooting preferences, size…
Finally, the steal will tend to be low pick and deception tend to be high pick.
Please find my conclusion below :
Steals :
Delon Wright - Phoenix - #17 - (73.1)
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson - Cleveland - #23 - (74.1)
Tyrone Wallace - Washington - #29 - (72.8)
Alex Poythress - Charlotte - #43 - (64.8)
Patric Young - Boston - #45 - (64.9)
Norman Powell - Milwaukee - #51 - (64.0)
Ron Baker - Toronto - #54 - (64.7)
Alessandro Gentile - Phialdelphia - #58 - (64.0)
Deceptions :
Bruno Caboclo - Milwaukee - #6 - (63.0)
Willie Caulie-Stein - Phialdelphia - #7 - (66.3)
TJ Warren - Charlotte - #12 - (64.4)
Louis Labeyrie - Chicago - #27 - (59.5)
Cleanthony Early - Orlando - #32 - (61.6)
Kennedy Meeks - Minnesota - #33 - (60.3)

My thoughts written down in some categories:)..
Steals: Wood, Petteway, Wright, Hollis Jefferson, Staten, Powell
ROY: Stauskas, Smart, RJ Hunter
Busts: Hood, Hairston, Labeyrie
Players I really love once they are (fully) developed: Caboclo, Stauskas, Tarczewski, WCS
IMO its a cool draftclass. Nothing special. But every team having their stars could have found a great role player. For example defender like Adams, Jefferson, WCS; shooter like Hood, Hairston, Labeyrie, Hunter, Stauskas or low post bruiser like Vandenberg, Tarczewski. Obviously it wouldnt have been a good draft for teams like LAL that lack a true star.

all I am going to say is, this engine is apparently so bad at projecting future and current ratings and the drastic discrepancy from team to team its ridiculous.

Re: Rooks first impression
the class is decent - don't see any superstars there but some good players there. A few may even make the all-star team at some stage.
Huge disappointment is Randle. He is worse than his teammate Stokes who was drafted 33 picks later in last year's draft

I think everyone should take these projections with a grain of salt. The disparity is so large from team to team that nobody knows who will be a star and who won't be.
If anyone wants to see just how large the difference from team to team is can go to my team page type in driven and look.

I'm a bit disappointed with Randle's scoring. Thought he would be a better scorer. However, he'll be at least a decent scorer, and definitely a dominant rebounder.andrei wrote:the class is decent - don't see any superstars there but some good players there. Also, Caboclo's upside isn't as good as i thought it would be, though he'll be a very nice all-around player when he fully develops.
Norman Powell was easily my biggest steal. At 51, he looks like he's going to be a real rotation player. Also, Tarczweski looks like he'll be a rock solid big.
Deonte Burton looks like he's a nothing though.
