Making the Case is a new weekly series that will give two GMs the opportunity to research and argue an interesting CSL-related topic. Each week, I (TWW) will put forth a prompt. The prompt will give two options. For example:
- Who has had a better CSL career, Player X or Player Y?
- Better CSL champion, 2020 Kings or 2022 Thunder?
- Better draft class, 2019 or 2020?
- Worse playoff performance, Player X or Player Y?
I will then issue a call for interested GMs to step forth to choose a side of the debate. One GM (first response or someone who hasn't had a chance) will be selected to represent each side. The GMs will then have the week to research, formulate, and write out their argument.
At the end of the week, I will post the two arguments in one article here in the Fanbase. The article will include a poll for people to vote for the stronger argument. The voting will be up for the following week, while two new GMs begin formulating their arguments for the next debate. At the end of the week, the winner will be announced at the same time as a new debate topic is announced.
My hope is that Making the Case will give GMs an opportunity to do some deep-diving and data analysis while rehashing some CSL history. And if data is not your expertise, then you can always rely on some good old fashioned case-making and convincing wording. Appeal to the emotions if you like, let's have fun with this!
If I get 5 "Yes" votes, then I'll start organizing the inaugural episode of Making the Case: CSL
