Trade in to grab Davis and Robinson

Post by Andrewu91 »

In a surprising turn of events, the OKC Thunder decided to trade into the draft. Wanting to have low cost rookies, both Deyonta Davis and Devin Robinson both fell to respectful draft positions, at #23 and #27.

Davis will provide that toughness and rebounding. His man to man defense is solid and he will block shots with his 7’2” wingspan. On offense, he can't shoot but he is nasty around the rim and will dunk everything in sight. Best part of Davis is his ability to play both center and power forward.

Comparison: Josh Davis with shot blocking

Devin Robinson provides that wing toughness. Sure he can't shoot but his ability to slash and dunk is great. His discipline is top notch, are his defense and stealing ability, once he hits his potentials.

Comparison: Briante Weber

Adding those role players and extra depth are crucial and will help the Thunder next season.

Now onto Free Agency..

I'm curious what you traded to get them. Both should be decent role players

Two guys that I really liked as future role players.

Interesting moves. Good players for sure but now two locked in first round contracts as opposed to one (or none if you were able to trade out for future picks).

I wonder what you moved to get these guys and I may need to see how this all impacts your cap now...maybe a part 2 to the OKC article haha

Which reminds me I need to get one done for the 3rd team before free agency!

Both players have definite flaws but they will be nice and cheap role players for the next 4 years for your team. Good moves.

Solid move to get a couple of cheap role players, obviously pending what the trades end up looking like. These are the kind of players you have to get when you are capped out on stars.

I really liked Davis from my scouting - no frills rebounding/shot blocking. No clue about Robinson

I only know one of the trades but the one I feel is an overpay. To trade a future first for a nonstarter is expensive. Especially when that first could have been used to upgrade a starter or allowed you to go the rebuild route next year. Davis is solid, a lil under 8 8 and probably a block and a half per game but will never start.

And Devin Robinson is a decent 9th or 10th man. I'd say he is a poor mans Jonathan Simmons. Better rebounder but a worse defender
FINALLY a logical HC Rule our work is done
