It's starting to heat up for Kristaps Porzingis
It's Getting Hot in Here
So take off all your... okay maybe not, but actually strippers might not be a bad thing to have at your sales pitch for these hot superstars. Otto Porter and Krislaps Poorzmingis have each received multiple offers that they are reportedly mulling over. Porter has received one max contract offer, but the Kings have offered him a 5th year, although at an AAV lower than his initial max salary. As for Porzingis, he's received one full max, including a player option, but the Jazz have offered him a very competitive five-year deal. I'm certain the Jazz would match the offer if he took the max deal, but I bet they'd rather have him for 5 years guaranteed rather than just 3.
It's heating up for more than just these two as well. Russell Westbrook finally received a contract offer, and a very lucrative one at that from his Kings. He didn't accept it right away, so that means he's still willing to listen, but teams that think they can steal WB away might want to move quickly. The Heat are looking at two solid shooters to add to their stable of talent, in Tyus Jones and Khris Middleton. They are offering a 4 year max to Middleton, so hopefully the Bulls can re-sign him so that they can get the 5th year guaranteed for him.
There's still quite a bit of cap space out there. In addition to the current offers and offer sheets they have on the books, the Lakers, Nets, Knicks, and 76ers all have more than 12M in cap space, and the Knicks will have around 19M once the paperwork has gone through on the Nuggets matching Boban's offer sheet. The Spurs and Rockets each also have at least 7M in cap space, enough for a solid player on top of the offers they already have out there. This FA period may have been electrifying so far, but there's still plenty of excitement to come.
