FA Day 2 Update

It's starting to heat up for Kristaps Porzingis
Day 2 was a very exciting day for signings! Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Derrick Rose, Jrue Holiday, Demarre Carroll, and more, but you don't want to hear about any of that. You're here for what's still to come! So let's take a look around the league, shall we?

It's Getting Hot in Here
So take off all your... okay maybe not, but actually strippers might not be a bad thing to have at your sales pitch for these hot superstars. Otto Porter and Krislaps Poorzmingis have each received multiple offers that they are reportedly mulling over. Porter has received one max contract offer, but the Kings have offered him a 5th year, although at an AAV lower than his initial max salary. As for Porzingis, he's received one full max, including a player option, but the Jazz have offered him a very competitive five-year deal. I'm certain the Jazz would match the offer if he took the max deal, but I bet they'd rather have him for 5 years guaranteed rather than just 3.

It's heating up for more than just these two as well. Russell Westbrook finally received a contract offer, and a very lucrative one at that from his Kings. He didn't accept it right away, so that means he's still willing to listen, but teams that think they can steal WB away might want to move quickly. The Heat are looking at two solid shooters to add to their stable of talent, in Tyus Jones and Khris Middleton. They are offering a 4 year max to Middleton, so hopefully the Bulls can re-sign him so that they can get the 5th year guaranteed for him.

There's still quite a bit of cap space out there. In addition to the current offers and offer sheets they have on the books, the Lakers, Nets, Knicks, and 76ers all have more than 12M in cap space, and the Knicks will have around 19M once the paperwork has gone through on the Nuggets matching Boban's offer sheet. The Spurs and Rockets each also have at least 7M in cap space, enough for a solid player on top of the offers they already have out there. This FA period may have been electrifying so far, but there's still plenty of excitement to come.

I can't believe Whiteside hasn't gotten a max offer. I would use up ATLs cap space before they get a dominant roster, but some GMs don't think that way.

I'm just happy to get my guys back cheaply. I'm finally gonna have my MLE and LLE back next season. Woop woop!

Whiteside does have a really close to max offer, it’s like 4/53 when his max is 4/58? I think?

Ahh I looked and didn't see one. Good. There's a few more max worthy guys too. GMs need to know with DDS offering early is a strong edge. I think all my guys had better offers, but I gave them what they wanted and more Day 1.

Lol. If someone figured out how to manipulate DDS to get KP to sign a 2 + 1 over our 5 year offer. . .so help me.

Andrew, just because you're tapped out - leave everyone's name out your mouth! But, by all means, give the Bogdanovic twins the 10M+ they're asking for. Hahahahaha

I expected Atlanta to max Tavares and/or Capella and offer for Bradley. NY too something around that lines. No fan of the holiday signing given there are way better fits (position- and agewise) left. Also I believe Capella > Holiday at this stage of Jrue's career

I think Jrue is much better than capela now and for the next 3 years.
I would gladly send capela for Jrue if Atlanta wants it haha

I now know the power of a Day 1 offer. I think if I had offered Demarre Carroll from the jump he would have signed the offer sheet with me. No big deal, it was worth a shot.

Yeah day1 is a huge decider. WSH didnt have an offer in for Tavares day1. Would have someone else offered a max for him that day, Im pretty sure he would have signed with that team around day 3-4.
That's why I try to target the players that might end up without offers on day1 when I have money. Also flip-flopping is the worst thing you can in free agency.

I like Capela quite a bit and was thinking about bringing him to Atlanta, but no way I would trade him for Jrue as of now.
In 2 seasons ... maybe.
Tavares never made my list.

No different than Marcos spreadsheet.
Surprised you only offered for Steph. He's a Klay Thompson like shooter. Every team needs a player like him.

Apparently an extra year and more money still isn't good enough.

Guess not. He should have taken your offer by now. Another Lillard situation? Hmmm
