End of an era
Well, there it is. After years of putting Terry Rozier on the trade block and being close to trading him 90% of the time, he finally has been traded. He is now a member of Jon's Detroit Pistons.
A look back at some of Rozier's career highlights:
2019 Slam Dunk Champion
Shutting down Paul George every match up
The good news from this trade:
No more annoying rants about Rozier
The bad news:
Jon now has Air Rozier
But let's talk a little bit. Why trade him, right now? He did just come off his best season as a CSL player, with 16 player instructions. Sort of like the Orlando Magic grooming their young star big men and the Lakers taking them away. In this case, he goes to a top 5 GM in the CSL.
The reason he was traded... depth, injuries, and hard cap. He just didn't fit in with the current core of players. He was stealing shots away from Stanley, Bledsoe and Klay Thompson. Rozier also has a history of being injury prone. Two years ago, he broke his arm. Last year, he broke his arm. This year, hes currently out for 17 days. He just cannot be relied on consistently. With Stanley having injury problems himself, he was a liability.
What this will do for my team? Open up shots for everyone, especially Klay and Stanley. Also coming in, is Jordan McRae(low usage defensive monster), and Josh Davis(low usage rebounding monster). Davis is someone I have been wanting for a long time. He is the perfect backup to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
The team now has Bledsoe, Holiday, McRae, Klay and Carroll in the back court, with MKG, Davis, Stanley and QI in the front court. Will this team win it all? Who knows, but with a 23-13 record, they certainly weren't before this trade.
But regarding Terry Rozier, injuries aside, he is a defensive monster with a great/inconsistent offense. Does he remind you of someone? Someone named Kemba Walker...
Thunder wish the longest reigning OKC Thunder player Terry Rozier the best of luck with the Detroit Pistons.

Re: End of an era
one of the few guys who have played their whole careers with one team and are not still on a rookie contract... that list keeps on shrinking. I bet SAC has like half of them now

I'm really curious how he will play in Detroit.
Liked him but was missing the spare parts to get a trade done.
That said, I also can see McRae as a better fit in this lineup for OKC

You know I liked him a lot, but unfortunately we were not good trade partners as it seems.
I don't like the return of this trade, still. But I wish it works out for you, as it's an all-in season from OKC.

I've been at Rozier for a while now so I'm glad to finally get him on the team. He definitely has his flaws, but for the most part is a solid player and a surprisingly efficient player, which will hopefully improve next to Kemba.

That's what I'm hoping. He starts and depending on matchups, he can play pg, sg, sf. Klay can play sg, sf.
Was so easy to insert him in the lineup and not worry about shots. Plug and play

Re: End of an era
McRae is the perfect fit for this lineup. Rozier took too many shots away. Team lacks a bit of defense and now McRae can anchor that without hurting them in other areas really.
Works out for Detroit as well because they're just so deep and well rounded so having a few of the same player isn't a concern.

Not much of an era lol.
And also no, Rozier does not remind me of Kemba Walker.

Serious question, how good is Rozier's defensive metrics?

Re: End of an era
but I always think of Rozier off the bench in OKC, playing behind Rubio I believe, another PG I can't remember, and now Bledsoe. He was never the "man" so I don't remember there being an era.
SJJ sure. Probably someone else, trying to remember who you've had on your roster. I just remember lots of articles on Rozier that's all.

It will take a while for me to stop associating Rozier with OKC. Him and SJJ have been there for a loong time now.
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!
