Celtics dominate Summer League

Boston, Massachussetts - In a dominant fashion the Boston Celtics won this years CSL Summer League tournament going 5-0. On top this years 12th overall pick Kevin Knox won the MVP-award. Knox, who came of the bench for Boston, averaged 23 points in only 24 minutes of action while shooting 51% from the field. As many scouts already knew prior to him entering the court, he can't shoot 3s (22% FG3) but makes up for it with his incredible efficiency inside the arc. He even scored 30 or more twice in his first 5 profesional games.

Next to Knox the 5th overall pick, De'Aron Fox, impressed the Celtics' management by putting up some solid numbers. He only started one game as sophomore David Michineau got the other starts, but he impressed in the game against Indiana by posting a 12 points, 10 assists, 3 steals, 1 turnover statline. Rumors are saying that GM Dennis already starts believing that Fox could take over the starting role next season. Especially as Michineau disappointed with only 13 points, 3.5 assists and 2 steals per game. It looks like preseason will be the decider.

Also our new two bigs were impressive. While Lessort (14-7-2) played the SL for Houston (3-2) alongside Gary Payton and Davis Bertans, it was especially Ike Anigbogu who impressed in a Hawks-Jersey. Ike carried the Hawks to 3-2 record averageing 25 points, 7 rebounds and a block. Could it already be a sign that his scoring-potential is higher than many scouts thought? It has to be shocking for Houston-GM Kyrus Wankadiya to see 6th overall pick, Malik Monk, only average 8.5 points in the same amout of minutes on the same team next to Ike.

Kevin Knox: 24 minutes, 23 pts, 4.4 rbds, 1 stl, 51%
Michael Gbinije: 20 minutes, 14 pts, 2.8 rbds, 1.4 stls
David Michineau: 21 minutes, 13 pts, 3.5 asts, 1.8 stls
Isaia Cordinier: 26 minuts, 8.5 pts, 3.8 rbds, 2 stls, 1.8 blks
Mathias Lessort (HOU): 14 pts, 7 rbds, 2 blks, 66%
Ike Anigbogu (ATL): 27 minutes, 25 points, 7 rebounds, 1 BLK, 59%

Lauri had an exceptional Summer League though shooting 65% from the field. Yes, 65%.
And Guler posted a.. wait for it... 28 to 1 A/TO ratio. Indeed, you read it right.

Ha, it's about the overall performance for a player. Not only one stat. Guler for example had only 11-5, I would expect more from a veteran rookie. Markkanen shot nicely but rarely shot the ball. So it's always about the complete picture.

I It means something as only realplayers are participating and scrabby 30/30/30 guys. It doesnt mean the players will perform that well in the regular season, but it is a fairly good way to compare player in the same age and their potential future impact. That's for sure.

Future is definitely bright in Boston, as this team has a lot of young talent, now let's see if they can all pan out.

Go to the stats section for your team and, on the right, there should be a checkbox that says "summer roster" or something like that (I'm going off memory). That'll give you the stats of your summer team roster.

I agree that summer league stats are not completely meaningless, but it is a very small sample size and some guys get played WAY out of position.

That being said, Boston is incredibly stacked with young talent and are going to be a huge force in the east within a couple years (if not sooner).

I like to make fun of Dennis cause he’s got no ring yet but indeed there might not be a team as well positioned for the future as he is in our league.
