2017 All Star Weekend Results 1 (Dunk/3 Pt Contest)

Post by emplep7 »

The All Star festivities were underway this weekend and the players put on quite a show.
Image
It all started with the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest where it came down to Stanley Robinson and Andre Roberson. Stanley Robinson of the Toronto Raptors stole the show though and edged out Roberson for the Dunk Crown for 2017.

The 3-point competition came down to three of the top shooting specialist where Steph Curry, Hollis Thompson, and Courtney Lee squared off to see who would take the Titleist Sweet Stroke Trophy this year. Hollis Thompson only missed 6 shots in the final round to take the title home to Phoenix.

We had no representation in any of this, but glad to see a good rookie/sophomore game. Some good young talent coming up.

Vonleh and Saunders both played. Vonleh is still raw but still put up 6 points, 3 points, 3 assists. And Saunders put up 8 points in 6 minutes.

Quite a showing for Phoenix this weekend! Hollis Thompson taking home the 3-point crown, and Wiggins lighting everyone up in the rookie-sophomore game. 29 points on 12-14 shooting (3-3 from deep) and just 23 minutes... that's just dirty! Wright had a solid outing as well by getting to the line 10 times (good for 11 pts).

I think next years rookie class will beat this years based on the level of talent and readiness of some prospects and rawness of this years rookie class.

Very good showing by our one representative Montrezl Harrell as to be expected. However it was also nice to see some former Wizard players get some attention in these events as well.
Year 1: 47-35 [[Washington Wizards]]
Year 2: 45-37 [[Washington Wizards]]
Year 3: Fired [[Portland Trailblazers]]
