Washington Acquires Two More Pieces For Contention

Post by NanashiWake »

The Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns have both released a statement saying they have agreed (apparently for quite a while now) to trade a few players within each other. The deal can be found below along with a statement that has been released by GM NanashiWake.
Wizards Receive: C Miles Plumlee, G Jahii Carson
Suns Receive: C Brandon Wright, G Jerryd Bayless, 2019 1st Round Pick [WAS] (Top 9 Protected)

It's been a hectic few weeks here, but we are finally back in action and getting a deal done with Phoenix that we had originally planned to be made in the off-season. The plan was first to bring Plumlee alongside Tristan (Thompson), however then Kevin Love was available and we couldn't hesitate on that deal. We still feel that Plumlee and Love can get along very well, if not better potentially than it would have before. Going back even further through my planning, Plumlee was actually a target for free-agency if we had been able to compete fro free-agents heavily. We were thinking he would sign for roughly nine million, so the ten million that he is getting isn't that much out of our range for him.

The player that can't be looked over in this deal is Jahii Carson. We actually see him filling the role of the departing (Jerryd) Bayless and that's gonna be a big step up for him. We are confident with the right leadership beginning in the locker room from some of our veterans, that Jahii can be a smart PG and put the ball where it needs to be at the correct times, whether that's to a teammate or in the bucket.

Both Wright and Bayless who will be leaving to Phoenix first thing tomorrow morning, have been an intrical part to the Wizards performance this season thus far. Wright had been talked about through the Wizards organization as being the surprise producing player since as early as summer camp and had been easily the best player off the bench consistently from Washington's roster.
