Rockets Eyeing Present and Future in Offseason Moves

Post by KW »

At the end of last season, Rockets GM BizGilwalker responded to his team's second consecutive WCF exit to the eventual CSL champions.

"We're done fucking around. I absolutely love the group we have here and think that it'll be good enough to win a title more years than not. If you remember, Dwight missed our playoff run in '15, and Harden was hobbling through 4 games of the Pelicans series that we lost this year. We're going to build a roster so strong, so deep, and so resilient, that we can compensate for injuries like those and still win.

The Rockets acquired vet point guard Darren Collison, and rookies Cady Lalanne and Sean Kilpatrick on draft day, but BizGilwalker was quick to note that the biggest moves are still in the works and that the rookies are both expected to be raw and that fans should not expect them to see them play much outside of the D-League.

"We're getting better now with every move- we've improved at backup PG, and we're making other moves to further balance out the main rotation with guys that fit the Rockets' mold, and at the same time, we plan to do what every rising team hopes to do, and that's build for the future. The end of our bench is going to be young, talented, and ready to contribute whenever the time arises. I can't legally say what other moves we're making yet, but I can say we're going to be better than ever in 2016-17, and as the years go on, we're making sure that we can remain a dominant team even after some of our guys age because the future pieces and young prospect we're acquiring now will be ready to take over."

Added some young talent so far and I'm confident that your team will be back to compete yet again for the title next season.

It was a great series between you guys and the Pelicans. Honestly, I think it came down to HCA. I know anyone can win once they get in the playoffs, but getting that top seed definitely helped NOP.

It'll be fun to see you two battle it out in the Southwest again this season.

Well. That's what 29 GMs want.
You're pretty much alone here Biz so I suggest you don't get better. Otherwise messing with every other GM isn't going to be good haha

No. Harden for Langston Hall. Trust me, better for your team in the long run.

His team can't get better than the one he had when he entered the league. Didn't win a ring yet, so I'm not too worried.
However, a great team.

I absolutely love the Collison pickup. I think he's such an underrated PG and as a backup should provide quality minutes and production. Could be huge to reduce the workload on Harden's shoulders throughout the regular season. If the rookies give you any minutes on a regular basis that's a huge plus.
