The Truth in the North

Post by Chilikonkarne »

After hard and long negotiations, Paul Pierce finally committed until the end of the year with the Toronto Raptors.
The news was warmly welcomed by the Toronto fans who are ecstatic to see a NBA legend joining the young and ambitious Toronto roster.

I am so glad to be here. Toronto is great city and a great place to live with my familty. The team is full of talent with players like Kemba, Kawhi, Serge or Enes. I will have a real role from the bench and I hope I can weight in the balance when the playoffs come.
I would also like to personally thank the organization of the Portland Trailblazers who let me take my chance with a contender. It was a classy act and I will always respect them for that.
General Manager Chili was pleased by the new signature.
Paul, despite his advanced age, is a great addition. We like him stepping up from the bench behind Korver. We will give him plenty of time to show the CSL he is still an elite wing.
Paul Pierce played his first game yesterday with Toronto in the difficult loss on the road against OKC.
He scored 4pts (1-1), got 3 rebounds and 2 assist in 22 minutes.

He has some value and a little bit left in the tank, but I'm not sure what I would personally expect out of him other than additional playoff experience.

Experience will be important. Given Tim revealed that player participating in the playoffs the first time are more likely to suck. So boosting the experience level is great for Toronto.

I agree with Jon. And with Dennis.
It's not like Pierce will win Toronto games, but his experience will help a young team during postseason.

Also he'll be of good use for a team with not much perimeter depth.

I thought Tim said that some players suck and others don't and he liked Rondo in particular because he played well in the playoffs. He didn't want to take the risk with Rondo 2.0 as he didn't know. Experience is only there to see if the performance improves in the playoffs or not
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!

I actually tend to believe its a combination of playoff experience (within the sim) and popularity. The reality is that there are few players with any substantial playoff experience in the CSL (as seen via player page) and yet there are still players that perform better in big games / the post season - the only common thread seems to be the more popular players.

EDIT - and maybe work ethic too?

Decent signing and good read. I personally don't really like Pierce's game, that's why I didn't attempt to bring him to Washington, even though I did consider it. We shall see if he can make any type of impact for your team.

After 7 games for the raptors, Paul Pierce went down for 36 days.

Mitigate feeling here in Toronto.
Indeed Paul has been playing nicely with 5.4pts (46%), 2.1 rbd, 1.0ast in 19 minutes but the team went 1-6 during this period. Alchemy broken?

Poor Pierce. Maybe New Orleans medical stuff would have done better work?

New Orleans 6-1 over that same period....

But seriously, hate to see anyone get hit with injuries.

Might as well waive him and let him play for the Rockets. Dude needs another ring ;)
