What's happening in The Land?

In what's shaping up to be a bustling offseason for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team has made decisive moves to lock in their core while also addressing crucial areas of need. With the Eastern Conference becoming increasingly competitive, the Cavaliers are positioning themselves not just to compete but to make a significant leap in the standings.
Langford, Kuzma, and Porter Jr.: The Core Secured

The Cavaliers have committed to their future by securing key pieces of their playoff run. Romeo Langford, the 23-year-old point guard, has inked a 5-year deal starting at $14,332,500 with 3% annual raises. This move not only solidifies the guard position but also shows confidence in Langford's development into a more efficient scorer and leader on the floor.

Kyle Kuzma and Michael Porter Jr.—two pivotal figures in the Cavaliers' offensive arsenal—have also been locked down. Kuzma, on a 5-year contract with a team option, starting at $17,199,000 and 3% raises, and Porter Jr., the league's premier scorer, on a 5-year tenure with a start salary of $19,110,000 and 7.5% raises, are set to remain in Cleveland. These agreements ensure that the Cavaliers' scoring depth and versatility stay intact, providing a stable foundation for the team's aspirations.

Trade Addition: Santi Aldama

In a move to bolster their frontcourt, the Cavaliers have traded Jae Crowder, Michael Baldwin Jr., and their 2032 1st for 3rd-year center Santi Aldama, addressing last season's shortcomings in shooting, shot-blocking, and rebounding. Aldama's potential as a versatile big man who can stretch the floor, protect the rim, and compete on the boards is a significant boost for the Cavaliers. This acquisition signals a clear intent to strengthen the interior, complementing the team's existing strengths.

Anticipated Contributions: Gabe York and Christian Braun

The Cavaliers are also banking on a breakout season from Gabe York, whose anticipated boost could be a game-changer in the backcourt. Additionally, rookie Christian Braun is expected to add depth and sharpshooting from the perimeter, further diversifying Cleveland's offensive options.

Looking Ahead: Culture and Identity

With the core players secured and key additions made, the Cavaliers' next steps involve finding good fits in FA and players with potential as they look to shift back into a roster growth mentality having the current iteration locked up. Later in the season, one could see expiring SG Kortmaz shopped so keep your eyes open.

Should be right up there again at the point end.

Just not sure there is enough improvement to get any closer to Brooklyn.

Cleveland Cavaliers welcome back Muhammad-Ali Abdul-Rahkman the slick passing downtown bomber. Stanley Johnson Jr. is also rumored to return on a deal slightly above the MLE.

A good year to fill out the roster with valuable vets! And Porter and Kuzma showed that they can lead the team.

If Langford can make a good step forward, that could close the gap.

You did a great job bringing the core back. MPJ goes without saying, and even though Kuzma’s numbers aren’t eye-popping, there’s no question he fits in really well in Cleveland. You can live with the back-end of his contract to ensure you get the most out of the Cavs while you’re a contender the next few years. SJJ remains a really nice weapon off the bench at this stage in his career.
I don’t know anything about Aldama since he was drafted while I was out of the league, but I’m sure you did your homework there.

Interior defense remains a question mark, which makes matching up with a team like the Nets a complete nightmare, but honestly they’re a nightmare matchup for everyone. Your offense will once again be good enough to keep you in any game. With a full season of your core, you should get 50+ wins.

Its an interesting team. Any team with Porter will remain competitive and Kuzma fits well for now. Ideally I would have preferred you to use your first round pick alongside Korkmazs expiring for a more immediate upgrade but that may be tough as Korkmaz could arguably be your best defender.

As it looks now, my guess would be a similar season to last year. Could possibly get up to 50 wins but unless you can acquire more defense I think the 2nd round would be this teams peak in the post season.
FINALLY a logical HC Rule our work is done

One of my current favorite teams. The moves to acquire both Porter and Kuzma were great. Now, with one training camp together, the team may be right at the top from the start.

Not sure you got the upgrade you needed to compete with Brooklyn but it's a long season so we'll see. Good luck.
