Brooklyn Nets Quick Analysis

Post by Ramcus »

Approximately halfway through the 2030-2031 CSL season, the Brooklyn Nets finally hired a GM. Albeit an interim GM, Ramcus signed on to at least finish the season at the helm of the dominant Brooklyn Nets. Becoming the chief decision maker, this was a difficult choice for the CSL commission to make, as Ramcus has had a very mediocre showing as the former GM of the New Orleans Pelicans; that being said the commission wanted at least someone well-known to make decisions for the Nets.

Both before and after the signing of Ramcus, the Nets had been raking in the wins across the CSL, flashing their rakes and trowels and shovels as they systematically buried nearly every team they came across in the back garden on their way to the playoffs. The Nets finished the regular season 63-19, a career best season for the star pairing of Ayton and SGA. The Nets finished with the #1 seed and waltzed into the playoffs on a hot 9 game win streak.

Brooklyn started their playoffs with the 10th seeded play-in winners Atlanta Hawks. The '31 Hawks have a special place in CSL history, as the one team to win a game against the Nets on their way to the finals. The Hawks took game 2 against the Nets at the Barclays Center and ruined many a gambler's nights, as many across the CSL landscape, fans and friends alike, were expecting a sweep. Instead, the Hawks put a big blackmark on the Net's playoff record, and made their mark in history.

The next two rounds consisted of a 8-0 sweep against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. Both were shocking sweeps which stunned the CSL landscape, as beforehand, Ayton, SGA, and company were known to be playoff chokers and struggle after the 1st round. Instead, the Nets never won a game by less than 8 points. Much was said about the playoff matchups, specifically what GM Ramcus could conjure up against the seasoned veterans at Cleveland and Boston, but at the end of the Eastern Conference, the Brooklyn Nets stood 12 wins and 1 loss, with the sole loss coming against the 1st Round matchup of the Atlanta Hawks.

The finals was quite an interesting matchup. The Memphis Grizzlies matched up against the Brooklyn Nets. Memphis had a rather up-and-down playoffs, playing two 7 game series in the 1st and 2nd Rounds respectively, following up with a close-by-the-scoreline 5 game matchup with the Golden State Warriors. They were battle scarred, and it showed as their two stars, Bruno Fernando and Jarrett Culver, dropped bombs throughout the finals. With that in mind, none of it was enough to stop the freight train known as DeAndre Ayton, who averaged 36.6 points per game for the finals. He was clearly on a mission to prove that HE himself was the best bigman in the league, the best defender in the league, and the only player who should be in consideration for the MVP award. The Brooklyn Nets finished the finals 4-1, and the playoffs 16-2. They finished their playoff run with one of the most, if not the most, dominant playoff runs in CSL history.

DeAndre Ayton in the playoffs averaged 31.2 PPG, 14.4 RPG, 3.6 APG, 4.7 BPG, 1.2 SPG, on 39 minutes and 76% from the line. SGA in the playoffs averaged nearly exactly the same as his regular season self, on slightly better efficiency across the board. Robert Williams also had the best playoffs in his 8 year career, having consistently big moments. Rashad Vaughn's return to Brooklyn finally resulted in him winning his ring, this time having a massively important role off the bench. Aleksandar Vezenkov was an elite role player, averaging 43.6% from 3 for the playoffs. And most importantly, Malachi Richardson's loyalty was finally rewarded; As the longest tenured Net, the 11 year vet earned himself a ring playing a vital starting role.

Excellent offseason. Congratulations on the title. I think the only way to minimize Ayton's impact is to place your most passive offensive player on him. That's what I did when we won our playoff series a couple of seasons ago, benching Carter and playing Hammonds on Ayton. That being said, at the level he has played this year, it's possible nothing had worked.

Congrats on the title man! The team was on freaking fire in the playoffs and you did a great job making sure they play their best ball. Good luck with LA, as they have been in the gutter for a while now and could use a front office that will stick around!

I hope Adam comes back and takes his rightful place as the Nets GM, this championship was on the back of his hard work and patience over years and years of development, trading, building an infrastructure upon which to grow his team and most of all his shrewd trading and coaching.

Congrats Marcus, that was some historic run with the Nets. Very curios to see if Ayton has another season like that in store.

And yeah, this game 2 win feels much better know haha
But we needed for sure our best game of the season to get a small margin win there.

Agreed.

Ayton/Williams are free agents so will be interesting to see if they can bring both back, as both are crucial to the success of the Nets.
