After a rough start to the season, sitting at only 8-9, not good enough for a 50% win percentage and currently out of the playoff race, Marcos is back to lead the Bulls to the promised land.
First of all, after losing youngster Jarrett Allen to injury, the Red franchise decided to pursue another star to join rising scorer Lauri Markkanen and three point assassin Damian Lillard, who moved to a bench role this season. Kawhi Leonard ended up being pursued and finally arrives at Chicago as the season moves on.
Out goes Justin Holiday, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and a future OKC first which was obtained during the offseason in exchange for Deyonta Davis. To complete the deal, rookie Devin Robinson will be joining the Illinoi franchise as well, rounding out the roster.
The projected rotation consists of:
PG: Cam Payne, Dame Lillard
SG: Dame Lillard, Gary Harris, Jae Crowder
SF: Jae Crowder, Kawhi Leonard
PF: Lauri Mark, Kawhi Leonard, Jarnell Stokes
C: Laury Birutis, Lauri Mark, Jarnell Stokes
Beck believes this roster brings an incredible mesh of offense and defense at every single position. While losing Allen for the year isn’t helping Chicago’s quest for a ring, Leonard also gives them the option of featuring Lauri Markkanen as the man in the middle, surrounded by great defensive players through 1-4, to avoid allowing driving lanes due to Markkanen’s shortcomings as a rim protector.
Trade should be finalized at any minute from now and the Klaw should be a member of the Bulls by Monday, when they face the mighty Cleveland Cavaliers at the United Center. Before that, they still play the Milwaukee Bucks on the road in which will be Holiday’s last game in a Bulls’ uniform.
The Bulls’ manager also announced coach Tim Duncan will start instructing players in the next few days with hopes of finding the best balance on offense.
Turning it around, that’s all Marcos wants to continue the year.
