Could Bertans and McLemore be future teammates?

San Antonio– With CSL Free Agency hours away, Spurs Insiders have been notified that Spurs Front Office is already in Boston ready to begin pitching priced free guard Ben McLemore to come to San Antonio. No one from the front office was available to comment directly to the San Antonio Express Next, but it is believed they already have a 4-year max contract ready to present to McLemore. Along with the max contract, the Spurs plan on pitching the idea of being the City’s Superstar and the vocal point of the team’s offense. An insider was quote saying

McLemore has the opportunity to take the next step in his career in San Antonio. He can go from being one of multiple pieces on a good team to the Leader of an up and coming team. I can see him becoming a 20+ point a game player with the right pieces around him.

League insiders believe it is a long short McLemore will leave Boston especially for a floundering franchise like San Antonio. Though the same insiders also believe McLemore has a lot more to prove in the CSL.

Additional San Antonio rumors are the team has already reached out to stalwart defenders DeMarre Carroll and Avery Bradly to pair with the Spurs current backcourt of Gary Harris and Frank Ntilikina. One thing the league knows is the Spurs will be one of the more active teams in the Free Agency with $28MM in cap space to use to build around the current young building blocks the team have. The team currently has 7 players on the roster including new Spurs Demtrius Jackson, who is slotting to back up Ntilikina, and sharp shooter Davis Bertans, who might have an opportunity to start at small forward.

Spurs Fans are petitioning the Front Office to bring back Tavares

Additional names tied to San Antonio are former Spurs Walter Tavares and Jrue Holiday, but Insiders believe interest in both players have dropped over the past couple of weeks. The trade that brought back Jahlil Okafor to San Antonio might have shut the door for Tavares’s return, but the team might still engage in discussions knowing Washington could second guess offering him a max that San Antonio could put in front of Spurs Fan Favorite Tavares.

Interesting as you just send Lavine away who has a bigger scoring impact and could easily be a 25ppg guy if used as first option. McL is limited to around 20ppg. However, it's gonna be interesting. We will offer him a max for 5 years anyway. So as far as System don't pull a Lillard (but even then there are other teams that are more likely to sign him imo) and McL has Boston as his favourite team, he should come back to us.

My guess would be that you're blowing smoke to scare people off as McLemore isn't a max player but that's what it will take for someone to pry him away. See if you'll blink Dennis ;)

Ha actually if I can sign him for a 5 year max it fits our financials perfectly - overpaid but i dont care much about paying 2m above value due to our decent financials. It will be interesting to see if other teams withdraw offers when they see me offering the max after day 1.

Porter is one year older - also it's not like I'm hyping my players lol.

Nah, you just can't compare them. Porter goes max and it's fine, McLemore does and it's overpay (in my opinion) but as I said, that's what you'll need to do to get him. It's just whether Dennis flinches or not first :D

Bt will max Porter for 5 years. He’s worth it, and if he doesn’t unexpectedly like 6-7 teams to max him right after they notice he’s trying to go cheap.

Dennis might have to max McLemore. So if you assume bt won’t try any funny things to sign porter cheaper, forcing Dennis to pay McL is logical.
And I think he’ll pay, can’t afford to lose McL right now.

Lavine couldn’t play defense and was streaky at best offensively.

I think teams see an opportunity with you having both Gordon and MCL as UFA and both could be stretched to max contracts

Yeah but both are guaranteed a max from us. That's why I'm wondering.

No worries here because the Nets aren’t interested in an Aaron Gordon reunion in Brooklyn. But to add McLemore and Porter is something that’s probably 80% likely to happen.

I’m pretty sure the clippers were lillards favorite team to start too.

Good luck buddy, as your team has a lot of cap to work with, and I think you will have quite a few different routes to rebuild this team.

Yes I thought was quite funny... maybe they had similar preseason stats at one point in time?

Thanks for the article btw. Might have lost a player, but that one made me offering close to max contracts right away.
