Boris Diaw / Head Coach / 49 / 291-201 record
Diaw was rumoured to not finish last season as the team head coach. However, management decided to keep him until the end of the season and to give him a chance to lead the team's retooling process. He now has some players who add even more versatility to the team, something he may be willing to work with.
Patty Mills / First Assistant / 44
Mills will start his third season as the Bucks first assistant. Last season he did a great job with Tyrell Terry, who is progressing as expected. Now he has another young point guard to work with in Miles McBride. That will be his focus to set the future floor generals for the franchise.
Darvin Ham / Second Assistant / 56
Ham joins the Bucks as the second assistant coach. He has been brought in to improve the team's transition in offense, looking for more easy baskets, as the team often struggled in that department last year.
Aaron McKie / Third Assistant / 57
McKie completes the coaching staff in the role of third assistant. Making that the team returns to his old defensive efficiency is his main goal during the season.
#1 Tyrell Terry / PG / 19 / 6'2" / 166 lbs
The sophomore season is usually the most difficult for a CSL player. Terry had a very solid rookie campaign at age 18, showing glimpses of the player he can become: excellent game vision and understanding, great outside shooting and the potential to be a game changer if his development continues. Sources close to the Front Office report he kept improving during training camp. The excitement is there, but everyone needs to be patient.
#2 Miles McBride / PG / 20 / 6'2" / 196 lbs
One of the two rookies on the roster, McBride fits the bill of a steady point guard who makes no mistakes: he can run an offense, hit the outside shots and play defense. He does not bring the excitement that Terry does, but he does not have any clear weakness on his game. During his college career he always chose the efficient play over the highlight, and that complements extraordinarily well with Terry. That being said, no one will require him to deliver from day one.
#3 Grant Williams / PF / 26 / 6'7" / 230 lbs
One of the offseason acquisitions, Williams joins the Bucks in his prime. A great rebounder and solid scorer, Williams provides more than that: above average hands for his position, solid defense and good decision maker on the court. He will need time to adjust to the team and a new offensive system, but he can be a key pieces in the team's success.
#6 Troy Brown / SG / 27 / 6'7" / 200 lbs
Last season Brown took over the leading role in Milwaukee. With Ingram out, he will have even more authority on and off the court. However, it has always been about the team over the individuals in Milwaukee, and that will be the case once again. With new players on board who can contribute on offense, Brown will have to find the right mix of scoring and facilitating. He is also in a contract year, but few think he may go elsewhere next summer.
#7 Thon Maker / PF / 31 / 7'1" / 231 lbs
The captain. The longest tenured player. The closest to the face of the franchise concept. Maker will start his 13th season in the CSL, always in Milwaukee. His role is not expected to be what once was, but he can still contribute off the bench, specially providing that veteran leadership in key moments.
#10 Daniel Gafford / PF / 27 / 6'11" / 222 lbs
Gafford comes out of training camp a bit lighter and quicker. His great defensive ability make him a fan favourite. He will start at the center spot, but can guard all three frontcourt positions. At age 27 he is on his prime, and the team's season depends heavily on his ability to shut down opposing players.
#12 Isaiah Livers / SF / 25 / 6'7" / 232 lbs
After a very promising rookie season, Livers sophomore year was disappointing. Some say it was the sophomore wall, while others point at a wrong plan during training camp. Between his rookie and sophomore seasons he lost 10 lbs. Some believe that affected his efficiency, as could not sag off defenders as he used to. This training camp he has gained 10 lbs. He has probably the best scoring mentality on the whole roster, and this will be a key season to know what is Livers place in the CSL.
#20 Rayshaun Hammonds / PF / 27 / 6'8" / 228 lbs
A specialist on the defensive glass, Hammonds will start his fifth season with the Bucks. As usual, there will be games where he will barely play and others where he will stay big minutes on the floor. That is the role of a specialist. With the Nets recently crown as CSL champions and DeAndre Ayton as the league's MVP, many will remember how Hammonds against Ayton was a key matchup in that Bucks game seven win at Barclays center a few seasons ago.
#23 Mitchell Robinson / C / 27 / 7'0" / 229 lbs
From specialist to specialist. In Robinson's case, that is shot-blocking. Another player whose playing time fluctuates depending on the occasion. However, Robinson has shown he can score when given the chance. The Bucks rotation is deep, but players like Robinson always find minutes.
#25 Dikembe Dixson / SG / 30 / 6'6" / 190 lbs
A great role player whose defensive impact has often gone unnoticed, Dixson will wear once more year a Bucks uniform. His good handles allow him to play multiple positions. He knows his role and fits well with Diaw's team philosophy.
#31 Dzanan Musa / SF / 27 / 6'9" / 195 lbs
One of the top acquisitions this summer, Musa was part of the sign-and-trade who saw Brandon Ingram leave Milwaukee. Musa is one of the most versatile players in the league, able to play all positions but center. He has great fundamentals and contributes in all areas of the game. He will need time to find his place within the team style of play, but he can provide a lot to the team.
#32 Usman Garuba / PF / 20 / 6'8" / 220 lbs
Unlike other young players who come into the league, Garuba is progressing slowly but steadily. At age 20 he will start his third season in the CSL. As Livers, this is going to be a key season for him. As Musa, he came from Minnesota via Ingram's sign-and-trade. Garuba is another versatile player, who is developing into a very good defender who does not demand the ball on offense.
#43 Enzo Shahrvin / PF / 20 / 6'7" / 226 lbs
The second rookie on the roster, Shahrvin was a favourite among the team's scouts. They envisioned him as the perfect complement to Terry's game for the Bucks of the long-term future: he can run the floor and finish near the team, facilitate second chances via offensive rebounds, read passing lanes and alter shots. Some even hinted at a distant future where Terry and Shahrvin play the roles of Steve Nash and Shawn Marion. Well, all of that is just potential as of now.
#47 Gary Clark / PF / 30 / 6'8" / 225 lbs
Clark returns for his second season as a Buck. A very solid and versatile player on defense, who can also be a facilitator on offense from the post. His role may be limited, specially on such a deep rotation, but players like Clark always have a chance during an 82-game season.
#54 Henry Ellenson / PF / 31 / 6'11" / 214 lbs
Ellenson joined the Bucks as a free agent. The veteran forward provides outside shooting and size, but not only that. Ellenson is a solid defensive rebounder and defender, who may help the team in many different areas.
These are the 2031/32 Milwaukee Bucks. There are no clear expectations with so many changes, and the team will probably need a full season to really know what it is capable of. At least, this should be an interesting year.
