Hassan Whiteside to the Mavs for 5-year, $130 million max deal.
Timofey Mozgov to the Lakers for 4-year $64 million deal.

Hassan Whiteside has not signed yet. Read that the Heat are making traction and catching up on the Mavs to sign him.

Signed or agreed? They cant sign until next week. Obviously a verbal means little considering the verbal jordan gave the mavs last year.

We somehow signed Nic for less than the max. I'm thrilled.

Haha - this is crazy - of course makes the former CSL jump to $73m look like nothing.... and everyone here was absolutely losing their shit over that - hahahaha.

What in the world are the Lakers thinking, btw? I can't believe the DeRozan number either. So far, the rest don't seem terrible. Whiteside maybe, but he truly did turn in a statistically dominant season - was by far the best defensive player in the league, per advanced stats.

The jump in the CSL cap caused almost complete chaos for some people lol. This makes our salary jump look like a joke.

Lol at Mozgov Contract. Derozan got paid but Toronto really didnt have much of a choice. Hopefully Whiteside will not go to Portland because thats just scary. Also Lin signs with Nets 3 yrs 36 mil. Not bad but i dont think Lin is a starter on a playoff team. Hopefully he has another Linsanity year tho.

Hoping Lin doesn't add any wins to BKN so the Celtics can continue to get top-3 picks the next two drafts!

So did Pels decline their option on solomon Hill and sign him to a 4 year offer due to the fact they think he will command more next season?? I dont watch the Pels but what has Hill proven?

Strongly disagree on Whiteside being the best defensive player in the league last year. I've read several articles that pointed out the Heat were actually worse defensively when Whiteside was on the floor. It essentially painted Whiteside as a stat whore that constantly blew defensive assignments (leading to easy buckets) and failed to box out opponents because he was always trying to get blocks and rebounds. I'm sure I can find the articles again if you want to read them.

I mean, I'll admit that I wasn't really watching a ton of Whiteside this past season..... but his advanced stats are pretty awesome.

1st in DRtg at 95 - last person to do that was Tim Duncan in the 12/13 season
2nd behind Drummond (24.5%) in TRB% at 23.1% and 2nd in REB/36 at 14.7
1st in BLK% at 9.7% and 1st in BLKs/36 at 4.6
Surprisingly, 24th in Offensive Wins Shares at 5.0
5th in Defensive Wins Shares at 5.3
11th - in the entire league - for Total Win Shares at 10.3 (behind Curry, Durant, Westbrook, Leonard, James, Harden, Paul, Lowry, Jordan, Green)
And then he actually edges DeAndre out to move up to 10th in WS/48 at .233

So, while I can acknowledge that there will always be detractors (and subsequently negative articles) out there, that's still a VERY impressive season.

I know about the articles Doug is referring to but these were based on early-mid season play. Later in the season and playoffs he played extremely well. I watched a few games vs CHA and TOR and he dominated the offensive glass and it was visibly tougher to drive against Miami with him on the floor. As soon as they went to Haslem or Amare you could see the difference. Dude is still young so a decent investment there.

Crazy money being offered there. Man..

Rose / Wade / Melo / Porzingis / Noah? This would top the league quite easily 5 years ago even with a 15yo Kristaps.

$150m for Mike Conley by MEM. Largest deal in league history?
