Declining TOs / Bird Rights
Quick question all.
When you decline a player option, do you also lose bird rights on that player? I've been under the impression that a team/player declining an option would still allow the mother team to retain rights, and to be able to sign that player to a bird exception.
Thoughts?

Damn, that's a question I can't answer. No idea how the engine handles it.

I know the Simmer proactively renounced (Thanks Simmer) my declined TO for Shumpert so maybe the same happened to you.Sun Scorched wrote:Hmmm, well I know I lost my rights, hence the question. Noticed it happened to Rizzo also.andrei wrote:You keep bird rights

Re: Declining TOs / Bird Rights
Question on TOs. . . .can a player with an option be traded and the receiving team decline the TO? I feel like that's been acceptable before but want to be clear before getting too deep in trade discussions.

Re: Declining TOs / Bird Rights
Took me a while to find it, but under trade rules it does state that if a player going in to his TO season is traded between end of season and contract decisions, the TO is automatically picked up. Players going into their PO season cannot be traded until after contract decisions and the player has made his decision on said PO
