Lots of great stuff here MP league wise:

-Return of defensive stats
Obviously that's the one thing pretty much all of us were waiting for.

-Option to control D-League teams
Now simmers won't be spammed with "Please make Javarr Underwear starting PG in D-League" requests. We can just do it directly.

-Database tracking player ratings changes
No need to remember screenshots now! Yay!

-Import of leagues from version to version
There may be some MP leagues that will want to take advantage of changing versions, and this eliminates the immense hours it took NLL to transfer from DDS 1 to DDS 2. Obviously I'm not sure what CSL is going to do, but if there was a switch to 18, this opens up as a future option

-Free agency changes
I'm not sure how this is going to actually play out, but the info in the blog means the summer period might get more interesting and logical

In relation to being able to import into the new game, my understanding is that we can import from PB17 to 18, but I haven't heard anything beyond that. Will we be able to import DDS3 to 18? There's so much that has changed that I'm not even sure if we could, if it would be a good import or not. Who knows how all the players would change

Nope. It's just 17 to 18. I mean, you're talking 3 to 16 to 17 to 18 - that's a three versions later difference, and like you said, there were major overhauls between versions that make import not viable. If we wanted to do it, we'd have to do what NLL did with the change from DDS 1 to DDS 2, which involves a ton of hours and manpower.

As much as I would love a switchover, it might be more realistic to continue CSL as 3, and start a separate new league with 18 for those interested.

If the draft team decides to continue using draft tournament, the Tournament Maker could be useful there, too, come to think of it.

I'd be interested in a league with a newer version. I'm over this one I just like playing with you guys. I would live something with more options and realism.

Good news. While I don''t think moving the CSL to a new version would be a good idea until we heavily tested the new version, I am looking forward to see this new version for the solo game.

Hope there would be improvement in the historical replay and development of players

This is something we are always looking at as the new versions come out, but they need to be tested pretty vigorously before making a change. Anyone who has played DDS17 knows that that engine is even more difficult to understand than the DDS3 engine so although the grass is always greener on the other side, until we see if that's true we're staying the course.

I tested the demo yesterday and frankly disappointed to be honest. I played the 2017 version and I don’t see any improvement from there :

“News”

- Ratings tracking but when you know how the development of players is handled, is it really a needed feature?
- Defensive stats : calling that a new feature is bold
- D-League stuff (Summer, 2 ways control, D-League control)
- Well that about it…

UI didn’t change at all, medias are exactly the same (still no immersion), engine didn’t improve a bit I assume...

I was going to buy (assuming new interesting features will be developed) but no way I am spending over 30EUR for a roster update.

If you don't have the 17 version, it could be worth a try.
But if you already invested in the 2017, yes keep your money.

It's frustrating cos it was the perfect timing to initiate "bold changes" in the engine. But I assume Gary has limited time to spend on each version

It’s interesting because a lot of people have commented about UI changes. Injury and FA systems changed, though I don’t know if demo covers FA.

Demo only covers half of the season so didn't see the FA but based on screenshots, it looks really similar

UI changes? Well not from 2017 version. Couple of widgets down the screen and that's about it

It's changed more than that, man.

Depth, Rotation, and Trade single click buttons from the home screen weren't in 17. Pretty sure the scrolling bottom tracker of signings and trades wasn't in 17 either, though I could be wrong on that as I didn't play much SP.

Injury factor % adjustment and Randomize Potential at league creation are new, too, I think.

Agree, saying that UI did not change is a bit simplistic. While the changes are not revolutionary, there has definitly been some improvements.

I can only hope that AI got a little bit smarter and its not so easy to win anymore.
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!

Randomize potential in the league creation screen is pretty awesome actually. That and having both defensive stats and lineup analytics make me a happy guy
