New Player Shooting Instructions Policy

As we all agreed on recently, the player shooting instructions system in the game is flawed and needs to be fixed. So here’s what we are going to be doing moving forward.

We are no longer going to be putting in instructions in the game. Instead, we will just be editing the preferences ourselves in the commissioner editor mode. We will have a new thread in the DC section dedicated just to player instructions. Teams will be able to input 3 at a time, and there is a 2 week real life waiting period between inputting instructions (if you put in instructions on February 1, you can’t do it again until February 15). Teams will still get 10 instructions per season.

We will have a template for how to post instructions in the Instruction thread.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment below.

Can we get all of the instructions from the past 2-3 season back?!? Kidding. Sort of ;)

Good idea, though. Thanks for the hard work.

Will the players with correct potentials but incorrect currents be updated?

Yes, that’s part of our list of things to do for the regular season file.

Will we be able to instruct the same player 3 times for example? Or we need to follow DDS logic?

Also, will it follow DDS when it comes to bumps / losses?

I mean
+- 5 for Post, 3s, Js
+- 10 for drive, shoot

1. You can instruct a player multiple times at once, but it cannot be the same instruction. So you can tell a player to drive more, and also to shoot more jumpers instead of post up, but you can’t tell him to drive more twice.

2. Yes it will follow the +5/+10, but we will allow for drive more/shoot more to be +5 instead if you don’t want the full 10.

The game gives +/- 20 for drive/shoot

That's incorrect. The game starts at +/- 10, but if the first instruction doesn't take (which it often doesn't), then it doubles to 20 on the next instruction, but we won't be having that issue in our new system.

You can test it yourself in-game. Start a single player league, go into commissioner mode, look at the player's preferences, give him a one month drive more instruction, and then look again at the preferences. I just tested it right now, and it's +/- 10.

Ive always gotten +20 for my drive/shooting

I think the game gives you +10 to potential instanlty, but then after the 30 days you end up with +20 current and +20 potential. Did you sim out the 30 days?
