Ywah silo is correct. Drive/shoot is +/- 20. +/-10 only applies for post up, jumpers or 3s

I stand corrected.

We will allow +5 or +10 for shot preferences, and +5, 10, or 20 for drive preferences.

Oh so we’ll have the option to speed up the process, nice! This will make it much much easier to instruct players right now

Thank you admin team!

Just an idea, though. If we're allowing +5 or +10 for Post / Jumper / 3s and +5, +10 and +20 for Drive / Shoot, wouldn't it be for the best if we allow anything from +1 to +10 for the former and +1 to +20 for the latter?

I mean, this way we can REALLY guide our players into what we really want without being too abusive. For example, if I have a player at, say 27 drive but I want him at 44 (for whatever reason), isn't it much better to allow a +17 jump than having to instruct him to drive +20 then shoot +5 or drive +10 then drive +5 and even then he'll be at 42, not 44 like planned?

I think it's easier for us GMs, makes the use of instructions better across the year, we can bring values to whatever we really want to, and it's easy for admins as well, just look at the value, make some quick maths and it's done.

Let’s see how it goes with easy numbers for a season first. I’m not sure what level of math our Simmers made it to in school.

+ 20 for shoot more

Will the 20 be added to jumpers or a mix of jumpers and threes with 10 each?
Congrats to season 16 ASL champion SoulKey. For the Swarm!

No, there are two different scales for shooting preferences. One scale is a combo of post up, shoot three, shoot jumper. The other scale is driving vs shooting. Shoot more means drive less, it won’t change the distribution of post up, shoot jumper, and shoot 3.

Do we think it would be possible to post a google sheet with all player preferences in it? Would help for game plan purposes, especially when we move to DDS19 with ball actions and floor spots to occupy.

So just to clarify Myles as i'm a bit slow: when we say shoot more drive less +20 it means the drive preference will be reduced by 20?

Got it thanks :)

Although perhaps worth simplifying a bit to just say Drive more + 20 or Drive less - 20 sInce nothing else is affected anyway

When a player drives less he tends to shoot more 3s, jumpers or post ups as a result.

Think about it as two bars:
Drive x Shoot is the first one.
3s / Js / Post Ups the second.

First bar says: will the player look to drive or look to shoot?
Second one says: if he’ll look to shoot, what kind of shot is he going to take? Post ups, mid range or three pointers?

That’s way we call it shoot at the expense of driving. But yeah, you can think of it as +-20 driving, knowing that when a player doesn’t drive, he will then shoot from where he’s instructed to.
